Is There Anything You Can Do About Scars?

Almost everyone has bothersome scars from surgical procedures, burns, or trauma.  These can be very distressing, bothersome and difficult to treat.

We have a special interest in scar management at Evolution Plastic Surgery Clinic.  We use unique laser modalities which have been proven effective in improving and reducing the appearance of scars.  These lasers work to modify collagen, vascularity and pigmentation of the skin.  Several treatments are often required for maximum results and the costs involved would be assessed on consultation.

These laser treatments can often be effectively combined with special cream formulations, silicone and surgery.  During your consultation, we can recommend some very effective creams and formulations that have been proven to prevent post-surgical scars and help fade existing ones.

Call us to book a consultation to see if this treatment is appropriate for you.

Four Things Laser Genesis Can Do For You

Many people are curious about laser facials and the benefits that they can derive from one.  There are different types of lasers available that can be used to effectively treat a variety of skin concerns including tighten skin, and improve skin vascularity and pigmentation.  One type of laser that is suitable for almost everyone is Laser Genesis.  This treatment is used extensively in our clinic as a proven, effective method for reducing and improving scars but we will deal with that in a future post.

How Does it Work?

Laser Genesis works by heating the upper dermis which is located well below your skin's surface, Laser Genesis stimulates collagen production.  Additional heat generated in dilated capillaries also works to reduce redness.  This treatment has also been proven to:

1)  Improve fine wrinkles

2)  Reduce large pore size

3)  Improve skin texture
                                                                                                                                                                 4)  Improve diffuse redness.

Four to six treatments are often recommended for maximum results and this is a treatment that is regularly done by some people every six weeks to maintain optimum regenerative benefits and stave off the signs of ageing.  There is no downtime or side effects other than some possible redness post-treatment that will dissipate after several hours.
